What    is    AGV

AGV is an acronym for Automated Guided Vehicle.

• An AGV is a piece of material handling equipment that is fitted with sensors, computer systems and operating logic that allows it to run autonomously.
• An AGV can be designed to move pallets, tow trailers or carry a single box or other item.
• An AGV may be guided by a wire in the floor, a vision system or other type of technology. Combinations of these are common.
• An AGV system can replace a manual operation or work where it is undesirable or dangerous for a human to work.
• An AGV system can consist of a single unit running a single repetitive operation over a couple of metres through to many units running over an entire facility.
• A well-designed, implemented and run AGV System can realise large savings over comparable manual operations.
• Our AGVs are based on our own manually-driven vehicles.
• A vehicle interface allows an AGV logic system and sensors to control the vehicle autonomously.
• If appropriate, an AGV Manager will provide task handling, traffic management, problem reporting and an interface to the customer systems.
• Customer systems, if connected will provide a stream of tasks for the AGVs.
