Typical Operation Cycle
A VNA moves a load a little differently from other types of forklift truck.
- The operator drives to the aisle and turns to line up.
- The wire guidance is selected and the operator drives into the aisle. Once the guidance is locked, the operator controls only the speed and travel direction - steering is automatic.
- The operator drives the VNA to the location and positions the forks in front of the load.
- The Turret Head traverses across the front of the VNA, moving the forks into the load.
- When the forks are fully inserted into the load, the operator lifts the forks and the load is lifted from the shelf.
- The operator then traverses the turret head back across the front of the VNA.
- The VNA is then driven back to the beginning of the aisle.
If the load is to be collected or deposited on a shelf that isn't ground level, then the operator will need to use the lift function. Unlike most other forklift truck types, lifting on the VNA can happen whilst travelling. This can decrease the amount of time it takes to complete a put-away or retrieval and is a part of why a VNA can be so efficient.
