Delivery To Line
Kits or small quantity loads from the Supermarket are transferred on to trollies for transfer by trollies on to the Milk run (see separate presentation details on Milk Run).
If a Milk Run is not used full pallets can be transferred direct to the production line straight from the supplier or from the Supermarket using a counterbalance truck.
Just-in-time (JIT)
Just-in-time (JIT) is an inventory strategy companies employ to increase efficiency and decrease waste by receiving goods only as they are needed in the production process, thereby reducing inventory costs. This method requires producers to forecast demand accurately.
Kitting
Kitting - Process in which individually separate but related items are grouped, packaged, and supplied together as one unit.
Milk Run
A milk run, in logistics, is a round trip that facilitates either distribution or collection.
During the Milk run goods are either collected from several suppliers and transported to one customer, or goods collected from one supplier and transported to several customers.
